Assignment 5
Festival: Design & Production

You are the curator and designer of an in person festival. This could be any type of festival; music, film, book, typography, etc. Decide who or what will be shown, played or featured at your festival (5 artists, films, books, etc suggested). Design the visual language and collateral materials for your festival. This includes:

Poster (24x36")
Ticket
Wristband

Printed Guide (4 pages / panels minimum)
— Event Description
— Schedule / Programme
— Featured Content Info (5 suggested)

+ Additional Collateral
— Billboards
— Banners
— Wayfinding

Week Ⅰ
Come up with the concept of your festival. Design your poster, ticket and wristband. Print your ticket and wristband actual size, and print your poster on 11x17". We will discuss your graphic elements, typography and color palette and how they are coming together as a system.

Week Ⅱ
Today we will focus solely on your program. Specifically, how your grid is working. Print out two versions of your guide: One actual size, single-sided, and hang this version on the wall. For your second version, print it double sided and collated as you intend it, with your grid exposed on every page (this can be black and white). Revisit the lecture on grids.

Week Ⅲ
Take todays feedback into account and finalize the design of your festival and the various collateral components. Print and produce your Guide, Ticket, Wristband, and 24x36" Poster all actual size, as if they were real pieces of collateral.

Background
As the curator, your job is to decide the type of content to feature in your festival. What you choose can be tied together thematically. By aligning the visual elements with the festival's content, whether it be music, art, food, etc., you can communicate the event's atmosphere, values, and themes through the design system. Consider this when developing art direction, illustration, color palette, typography, imagery, and graphic elements to evoke the desired emotions and create a memorable visual experience.
