Assignment 11
NASA Artemis II Poster

The NASA Artemis II mission represents a bold leap forward in humanity’s journey back to the Moon, paving the way for future crewed Mars exploration. The Artemis II Poster Project invites students in the BFA Illustration and BFA Design programs to creatively interpret and communicate the mission’s goals and values through a visually impactful poster. You will explore the theme of space exploration, climate, and scientific discovery, expressing your understanding of how NASA’s Artemis mission embodies a new generation’s quest for knowledge and progress.

This project serves as an opportunity to integrate your visual storytelling skills with the themes of Earth science, space exploration, and the importance of scientific innovation in addressing global challenges. NASA’s Earth to Action strategy forms a foundational part of this project, linking the mission’s ambitions to broader goals of environmental stewardship and sustainable exploration.

Suggestions for Approach
Research: Begin by investigating the Artemis II mission’s objectives, focusing on elements that resonate with you personally. Consider looking into NASA’s role in addressing climate change and its Earth to Action strategy. NASA has provided many references and images that can be used here. Develop sketches around your chosen quote and theme. Create visuals that are bold and memorable, keeping in mind that effective posters communicate quickly and clearly, even from a distance.

Week 2
Finalize and print your 13” x 19” poster. Optionally, you can use AR to animate your poster. Consider how your poster will move using Artivive, an AR platform. Demonstrate your motion in class during crit. Please upload your final poster to Drive to be considered in the competition.
