Assignment 11
Site Specific Typography: Documentation & Concepts
Review our list of latitude and longitude coordinates. Claim a place and, using predominantly typography, send a message to the public at this specific location. Your message should respond to its location and communicate something to the passerby. Your typography should be printed, constructed or projected by any means necessary. It should not be permanent.
Deliverables Week 9
Create a 9 page presentation printed on 11x17" documenting your location and planning two concepts. Visit your location and spend at minimum an hour in the area. Take photographs, make notes, observe the mundane. The longer you stay at the location, the more it will reveal itself. Let your observations define your message and goal. Your documentation should be coherent, make connections and explain what you find interesting about the location.
Present two concepts. Consider your location and how your message is interacting with the environment. Hang your presentation in three rows of three pages.
1. Three pages of photos & observations from your location
2. Six pages (3 pages per concept) outlining the following...
Digital sketch or flat vector of your typography
Two renderings in–situation, at your location
3D schematic (c4d, psd, Ai, Sketch Up, etc.)*
Example of materials, either physical or digital*
