Assignment 05
Film Title Sequence

Film titles are like book covers. Their goal is to set the stage for the viewer. It’s a way for a film maker to communicate what the audience will experience.

Create a 15 second title sequence for one of the following films. Your main goal is to convey the film’s tone through typography. You’ll create a wordmark for the movie and define a typographic system for the film’s credits, including: the main film distributor (A24, Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer), producer, cinematographer, writer, at least 3 actors or actresses and director.

Along with typography, you’re also creating a piece of time based media. Consider how editing (pacing & sequence), visuals and your soundtrack add to the whole. But by no means is this a motion graphics assignment. Your main emphasis is on typographic treatment. Use motion to enhance, not distract. Disregard any original posters, titles or promotional materials attached to your film. Your solution should be original.
